No, this isn't an article about inhalants, this is about standing up and letting people know that it is wrong to use the constitution to take people's rights away. I know, I know, this is a sex site, not a political forum, but please bear with me for just a couple of minutes.
If you are in the US, unless you have been living under a rock, you probably already have heard about California's Proposition 8, Florida's Amendment 2, and Arizona's Proposition 102, as well as Arkansas'adoption ban. Guys, hopefully you remember your High School Civics class where we learned about the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. For some reason, rather than giving rights to people, now they are using state constitutions to take people's rights away.
I have my own feelings about gay marriage, and I'm sure you probably feel one way or the other on the subject. But these aren't just bans on gay marriage, these are using these state constitutions to specifically discriminate against a segment of the population. And that is where I feel they have gone too far.
In California, people have been
standing up to let their voices be heard about this inequity. But this
weekend, peaceful protests are planned on City Halls across the
country.Think back to where our country was 50 years ago on civil rights.
History has shown us several lessons of where people have stood up in
mass and demanded rights, and people have had to take notice.
Forty years ago, the men and women that stood up at Stonewall ushered in a new era of acceptance for all of us. Now
it's time for us to take it to the next level and show them that we
won't be ignored or shamed back into the closets that we worked so hard
to break out of. Let's don't let them use constitutions that are
designed to protect our rights as a tool to strip them from us.
You can get involved in your local area by checking out www.jointheimpact.com. There is another site set up to help you find your local protest site at http://jointheimpact.wetpaint.com/
Since we are in the Orlando area, our local site is http://www.hrc-orlando.org/jointheimpact/
I
don't remember feeling as passionate about anything in a long time.
There are people celebrating that they took human rights away from us
that that really pisses me off. I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to
take it any more. Please join me in making a statement against this
inequity. There is strength in numbers and we have the numbers!
